Summer internship on Docker containers for mobile robots

Docker + ROS

In the Robotics Lab, we have many mobile robots, including Spot, Care-o-Bot 4, and Husky. Each of our platforms has specific requirements for its development environment. Maintaining different versions of ROS and other libraries on the same machine is impractical and prone to conflicts. For this and other reasons, individual sandboxed development containers are preferable for our research environment.

We are looking for a student with experience in Docker containers, ROS, and python to help us build a collection of Docker images for all of our mobile robotic platforms. During the project, the student will have the opportunity to have first-hand experience with configuring and using many state-of-the-art robots as well as get in touch with researchers from the three robotic groups sharing the lab space.
